Steinway Artist Carol Yu is acclaimed by the Times UK for her ‘excellent, positive work at the piano’, and praised by Viktor Merzhanov, Piano Professor at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory as ‘an artist whose playing is notable for its good taste and sense of style’.
Her engaging performances have been capturing audiences worldwide. Carol has concertised internationally in London (Southbank Centre and Barbican Centre), Austria, Germany, Russia, Czech Republic, Japan, China and SE Asia, and has been featured in such prominent events as London Park Lane Group Series, International Chopin Festival in Austria and International Piano Festival in Kuala Lumpur.
Carol has performed for the House of Lords in London and the Chopin Society in Vienna, and was appointed Artistic Director and Principal Pianist of Hong Kong SAR 10th Anniversary celebration concert in Shanghai. She has performed at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Hong Kong City Hall Concert Hall, and for Christie’s “Christie’s Lates” London-New York-Hong Kong Event at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre. She has collaborated with renowned conductors Li Xin-cao and Yip Wing-sie, and with City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sinfonietta and Malaysia National Symphony Orchestra.
As a chamber musician, she has performed with distinguished musicians including violinists Jing Wang (Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra Concertmaster), James Cuddeford (Hong Kong Sinfonietta Concertmaster), Jue Yao and Jeremy Williams, cellists Richard Bamping and Artem Konstantinov amongst others. Her numerous recordings received critical acclaim internationally, including her solo album of Chopin and Beethoven piano works released by URM Audio (UK), recording for Moscow Radio, as well as a DVD series by Brio Music.
Carol is lauded as “5th Generation Chopin Lineage” and “5th Generation Liszt Lineage”, having inherited an impressive tradition from her renowned piano teachers Viktor Merzhanov, Irina Zaritskaya, Andrzej Esterhazy (pupil of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus) and Hamish Milne. She studied chamber music with acclaimed instrumentalists Anne-Sophie Mutter, Lynn Harrell and the Amadeus Quartet. A scholarship recipient of Hong Kong Jockey Club Music and Dance Fund, Carol obtained the Bachelor and Master degrees with First Class Honours from Royal Academy of Music London, and Master of Arts from Musikhochschule Trossingen Germany.
Carol is Founder & Artistic Director of PREMIA International Young Artists Music Festivaland has brought 50 young talents to perform at New York Carnegie Hall. She is Chairperson of Hong Kong Jockey Club Music & Dance Fund Awardees Association from 2018-2022 and dedicates her efforts to the development of Music and Dance in Hong Kong.
In recognition of her outstanding achievements, Carol was awarded the prestigious appointment Honorary Artist-in-Residence of The Education University of Hong Kong by the President of the University Professor Stephen Y.L. Cheung since 2021. Carol has garnered numerous awards and commendations in Countess of Munster Musical Trust, Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition, Oxford Music Festival Competition, Whyte Memorial Fund Award and Professors Memorial Prize.
Carol was invited to be Juror in major competitions in the region including Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition Hong Kong Macau Region, 3rd Steinway Youth Piano Competition Asia Pacific Regional Finals 2016, Hong Kong Asia Piano Open Competition and Chopin Memorial Prizes International Open Competition.
Carol is committed to engaging her musical gifts for charitable causes, and has given benefit concerts for charities both in Hong Kong and abroad, including UNICEF, Habitat for Humanity, Hear Talk Foundation and Sabah Thalassaemia Society, serving the needy in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Central Africa, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Carol is Piano Faculty member at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Hong Kong Baptist University. Carol has been Presenter in the World Conferences of the International Society of Music Education (ISME) and Asia Pacific Symposium on Music Education Research, and has given workshops and masterclasses in Beijing, Japan, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Taipei and Hong Kong.

Gabriel Kwok is Professor at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and has been Head of Keyboard Studies since 1989. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Guy Jonson and later with Louis Kentner in London. A Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music in London, he is a Visiting Professor at the Shenzhen Arts School, Xian Conservatory of Music, Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Wuhan Conservatory of Music and China Conservatory of Music in China. He has served on the faculty of the Cliburn Piano Institute (USA), International Institute for Young Musicians (USA), Colburn Academy Festival (USA), Art of the Piano (USA), Chetham’s International Piano Summer School (UK), Music Fest Perugia (Italy), Coimbra World Piano Meeting (Portugal), Beijing International Music Festival and Academy (China), Beijing International Piano Festival (China), Guangzhou Piano Masterclasses (China), Shanghai International Piano Festival (China), Singapore International Piano Institute, Asia International Piano Academy and Festival (Korea), Kyungsung International Piano Academy (Korea) and Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes (Israel).

Gabriel Kwok has been a jury member of many international competitions including the Rome, Vianna da Motta, Gina Bachauer, Hong Kong, China, Hilton Head, Minnesota Piano-e, Darmstadt Chopin, Rio de Janerio BNDES, James Mottram, China Shenzhen Piano Concerto, Geneva, Bayreuth-Weimar Liszt and Schubert International Piano Competitions.
He has collaborated with many distinguished artists in concerts, among whom were Pierre Amoyal, Alexander Ballie, Siegfried Behrend, Alan Civil, Eugene Fodor, Lu Siqing, Albert Markov, Yuri Mazurkevich, Clarence Myerscough, Roberta Peters, Qian Zhou, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jenny Ren, Aaron Rosand, Nathaniel Rosen, Rohan de Saram, Hansjoerg Schellenberger, Denis Shapovalov, Jeffrey Solow, Leon Spierer, Richard Stolzman, Wang Jian and Xue Wei.
Professor Kwok is a Steinway Artist and Steinway Honorary Professor. He was the Music Director of the HKAPA/RTHK ‘Beethoven 32 Piano Sonatas’ project. In 2014, he was awarded Medal of Honour from the Hong Kong Government for his contribution to piano education in Hong Kong.

Professor Eleanor Wong began her musical studies in Hong Kong with Betty Drown and later as an Associated Board Scholar at the Royal Academy of Music, London with Frederic Jackson and Max Pirani. Besides winning numerous prizes and awards, Eleanor was one the few students graduated with both the Graduate Diploma (G.R.S.M), and the Recital Diploma as well as top honours: the Walter Macfarren Gold medal and Majorie Whyte Memorial Award for the most outstanding students. After winning the coveted Boise Scholarship, Eleanor studied in Paris with Vlado Perlemuter and later in New York with Artur Balsam.
Winner of silver medal at the Viotti International Competition Italy, Professor Wong broadcasted on RTHK (Hong Kong), WNYC (New York), BBC (UK), and overseas services. As a soloist she has given recitals extensively in the United Kingdom (including the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room in London) in Hong Kong and the United States, as a Piano Duo with her sister they have performed together in Hong Kong, in cities of China and in the States.
Professor Wong is recognised as one of the foremost piano pedagogues with many of her pupils winning top prizes in international piano competitions including the Chopin International Piano Competition, the Van Cliburn, the Leeds, Gina Bachauer and the Casa. Being one of the most sought-after teachers, Professor Wong frequently hosted lectures and workshops on Piano Pedagogy and has given master-classes in China, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Uruguay, South Africa, England and USA. She is also a frequent member of jury in various international piano competitions and festivals.
Presently, Eleanor Wong is Professor of Music(Keyboard)at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She is also a visiting professor at the Shenzhen School of Arts and Wuhan Music Conservatory, and an honorary professor of the Tianjin Music Conservatory. She is a Steinway Artist, Co-Director of the Hong Kong Summer Music, Professor Wong is the Chairperson of the Piano Teachers’ Association in Hong Kong and Artistic Advisor of The Dalcroze Society of Hong Kong. She has served as Advisors for the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (ADC), Trinity Guildhall music exam (Hong Kong).
In 2008, Professor Wong was elected one of 2007 Outstanding Leaders by Singtao Daily in Hong Kong for her contributions to the musical world. In 2013 Professor Wong was awarded the Hong Kong Women of Excellence in the Six Arts for her work in field of Music by the Hong Kong Federation of Women. In 2014, Professor Wong received the Medal of Honour from the Hong Kong SAR Government, recognising her dedication and contribution to piano education and grooming of local young pianists. In 2018, Professor Wong was honoured with a Life Time Achievement Award in music education by the 5th Hong Kong International Music Festival.

在2008年,黃教授更因其對香港音樂界的貢獻,被香港星島日報頒發為2007年傑出領袖。2013年黃教授獲香港各界婦女聯合協進會頒発首屆「香港六藝卓越女性」奬。2014年黃教授更獲香港特別行政區政府頒授榮譽勳章,表揚她在鋼琴教育及培育本地年輕鋼琴家方面的貢獻。2018年,黃教授榮獲第五屆香港國際音樂節頒發終身成就獎,以表揚她對音樂教育的貢獻。
Colin Stone’s career as a performer began in the late 1980s. He was encouraged by Sir Charles Groves at the finals of the 1985 Young Concert Artist’s Trust and went on to win the Royal Over-Seas League piano competition in 1986. A Subsequent debut at the Wigmore Hall and numerous broadcasts on BBC Radio3 helped to establish his growing reputation and has led to performances around the world. A number of acclaimed recordings followed both of solo repertoire, and chamber music with the London Mozart Trio which he founded in 1989. He made his debut as a soloist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Grant Llewelyn in 2001, and gave his first cycle of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas in 2005.
Colin Stone has a particular affinity with the music of Shostakovich. In addition to his recent recording of the Twenty-Four Preludes and Fugues Op.87, he has recorded the two Piano Trios and the Piano Quintet (Classic FM “Instrumental and Chamber Disc of the Month” June 2008) and, with Rustem Hayroudinoff, he gave the first performance in the West of the two-piano version of the Fourth Symphony, op. 43a, a work which they have recorded for Chandos. He also recorded the two piano sonatas and Preludes Op.34 for Olympia (now available on the Regis label). Colin Stone also appears in the documentary film, “The Unknown Shostakovich” along with Vladimir Ashkenazy, Valery Gergiev, Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Maxim Shostakovich, first shown at the Barbican Cinema. He first performed the complete cycle of 24 Preludes and Fugues Op.87 at Cadogan Hall in London in a concert to mark the centenary of the composer’s birth: Vladimir Ashkenazy himself gave the pre-concert talk.

As a soloist and chamber musician James performs regularly throughout the UK and Europe. His recital work includes appearances at major concert series in France, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Holland, the Czech Republic, Bermuda, Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Malaysia and in the UK at Wigmore Hall and the Edinburgh and Aldeburgh festivals. Having studied at the Moscow Conservatoire (during which time he reached the semi finals of the International Tchaikovsky Competition) he frequently returns to perform in the former Soviet Union. Highlights have included performances at the Sakharov Festival in Nizhny Novgorod and the Omsk Festival.
James’ orchestral performances include concertos with the English and Scottish Chamber Orchestras, the Moscow, Khazakh and Belorussian Symphony Orchestras, and the Arad and Oradea Philharmonic Orchestras (Romania), and at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire and Astana Opera House. He has performed both Brahms Concertos in Russia and Romania.
He has been a member of the Barbican Piano Trio since 1992, performing frequently at Wigmore Hall and in major UK festivals and concert series, and throughout Europe and the USA. Highlights include Carnegie Recital Hall and many cycles of Beethoven’s complete Piano Trios including the Master Concert Series at Wigmore Hall. The Trio’s repertoire consists of over seventy works and their discography includes trios by Lalo, Tchaikovsky, Taneyev, Rachmaninov and Schnittke.
James has worked with the Vanburgh Quartet, BBC Singers, Lydia Mordkovitch and the mezzo soprano Sarah Connolly and has made several recordings for Chandos. He is a dedicated teacher and enjoys posts at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Royal Holloway, University of London and Eton College. He is also an Honorary Professor at the Rachmaninov Institute, Tambov, Russia where he makes regular visits to perform concertos, give recitals and masterclasses and lead chamber music courses.
He has served on the Juries of several international Piano competitions, notably in Romania, Latvia, Russia and Slovenia and gives many masterclasses, both in the UK and overseas, most recently in China, Hong Kong, Macau and Korea. He is in considerable demand as an adjudicator and is a member of the ABRSM examining panel, which has taken him to Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Indonesia and many European countries.
Nancy Loo is one of Hong Kong's most versatile artists, as pianist, radio programme host, actress and writer. She was a recipient of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in 1978. She currently teaches piano at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is often invited to host music talks and master-classes, and to serve as a juror for piano competitions.
Ms. Loo attended the Juilliard School on scholarship, where she studied with Adele Marcus. After graduating with a Master's degree, she studied with Vlado Perlemuter in Paris and Guido Agosti in Italy. She was first prizewinner at the Fourth Rina Sala Gallo International Competition in Monza in 1976, and has won many other international competitions, including the Marguerite Long International Competition in Paris.
As a pianist, Loo has given solo recitals and performed with orchestras in England, Europe, North America and Asia. Locally, she has appeared in the Hong Kong Arts Festival Orchestra and the Hong Kong Sinfonietta. A keen promoter of contemporary music, she has participated in the annual Musicarama and the ISCM World Music Days Festival. Her recordings include a piano solo album of Christian music, Ambush and Moonlight on Spring River with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra and piano works by local composers.

Jonathan Dobson was born in Derbyshire and attended school in Mansfield before studying music at Clarendon College in Nottingham. In 1986 he won a place at the Royal Academy of Music, studying piano with Alexander Kelly and Hamish Milne. He was awarded the Peter Latham prize on graduation in 1991 and for the past 30 years has enjoyed a diverse and successful musical career as a pianist, conductor, journalist, broadcaster, critic, adjudicator and educator. For the past 14 years Jonathan has been Director of Music at Queenswood School and in 2013 was elected an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in recognition of his work in music education. Jonathan has played in many concerts in the U.K. and in Europe and has performed live on BBC Radio 3 In Tune.
James Cuddeford has emerged as one of Australia’s leading musicians, having won international recognition as both violinist and composer. After commencing his musical studies in Brisbane, Cuddeford was granted a full scholarship at age twelve to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School in England. He continued his studies in performance at the Royal Northern College of Music and composition at the University of Manchester. His principal teachers were Wen Zhou Li and Yehudi Menuhin in violin, and Karlheinz Stockhausen and György Kurtág in composition. He has won a series of important competitions including the first prize in the 1996 Charles Hennen International Competition in Holland.
Cuddeford has performed extensively throughout the world as both soloist and chamber musician. He has frequently appeared at major international festivals in many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls. As a chamber musician, James has collaborated with artists such as John Lill, Charles Rosen, Stephen Kovacevich, Cristina Ortiz, Michael Collins, Heinz Holliger, Yehudi Menuhin, Bruno Giuranna, Pieter Wispelwey, Daniel Müller-Schott and Michel Dalberto. He has performed a wide range of concertos with orchestras including the Camerata Lysy Switzerland, BBC Scottish National, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Jena Philharmonic Germany, Queensland, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras under conductors including Christopher Hogwood, Yehudi Menuhin, Christoph Poppen, Daniel Raiskin, David Porcelijn and Krzysztof Penderecki.
As a highly active and renowned interpreter of contemporary music, Cuddeford has worked with and premiered the music of many of the most important composers of our time, including violin works by Dean, Kurtág, Smalley and Birtwistle. At age 15, he was the youngest finalist in the BBC Young Composer of the Year, and the following year the Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra commissioned and premiered his first major orchestral work. His compositions have been performed, recorded and broadcast in Europe, North America and Asia by groups such as the Nash Ensemble, Australian String Quartet, Ensemble Offspring, Psappha Ensemble and the Sonos Chamber Orchestra. His music is represented by the Australian Music Centre.
Cuddeford joined the internationally acclaimed Australian String Quartet in 1998, and was subsequently violinist with the Grainger Quartet and Sydney Soloists. He is currently Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and appears regularly as both guest leader and director of various orchestras in Korea and Japan. He lectured in violin at both the Elder Conservatorium and the Australian Institute of Music in Sydney and has given master classes at many major institutions around the world. He has recorded for ABC Classics, Tall Poppies, Toccata Classics, and Melba Recordings and plays on a Nicolò Gagliano violin made in 1769.

Xiaomu Fang has been the Co-Principal Cellist of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008. As a soloist, she has worked with renowned conductors such as Jaap van Zweden, Sergiu Comissiona and Jacek Kaspszyk. She has performed as soloist with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, the China Philharmonic Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony Orchestra. Xiaomu has performed several solo recitals at the Carnegie Hall and the Alice Tully Hall at the Lincoln Center in New York. She has won 13 First Prizes in solo competitions throughout the US and internationally. Xiaomu graduated from the Juilliard School on full scholarship, studied with renowned cello master Harvey Shapiro. She performed frequently at the Lincoln Center with her piano trio and string quartet. The New York State Assembly of the United States awarded Xiaomu the “Outstanding Achievement in Arts and Culture Award”. She was the first Asian musician to receive this award.

Jeremy Williams began his career as a violinist with the London Symphony Orchestra. He was a member of the Delme Quartet and Nash Ensemble playing regularly with the Academy of St Martin in the Fields and the London Sinfonietta.
As violinist with the York Trio and violist with the Beethoven String Trio of London, he featured regularly on BBC broadcasts and made numerous recordings. Concert tours have taken him to major festivals including Edinburgh, Salzburg, Prague, Hong Kong and venues ranging from the Wigmore Hall, London, Sydney Opera House to the Forbidden City, Beijing.
In 1998 Jeremy was appointed Principal Viola with the Hong Kong Philharmonic and taught at the HK Academy for Performing Arts. Jeremy became a member of the Australian String Quartet in 2003 and in 2009 was appointed Lecturer in Chamber Music and Director of Strings at the University of Tasmania. He has taught at the Sydney and Adelaide Conservatorium and Artist in Residence at the Queensland Conservatorium. He was first violinist with the Diemen Quartet whilst resident in Tasmania.
Jeremy relocated to Hong Kong in 2015 and the following year formed Hong Kong Camerata Strings for talented young musicians. He is currently Music Director of Yew Chung Education Foundation overseeing music for their schools in Hong Kong, China and US.
Wang Liang, currently the Second Associate Concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He was born into a musical family in Shenyang, China.
As one of the most popular violinists in Hong Kong, Wang has made numerous concerto appearances in major concerts. In May 2021, he was invited as a soloist in The Red Violin movie-in-concert by Le French May Arts Festival with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. In October, he was also invited by The Chopin Society of Hong Kong — Joy Of Music Festival 2021, where he played the Saint-Saëns Violin Concerto No.3 and La Muse et le Poète. In 2023, he performed The Butterfly Lovers’ Violin Concerto with the Ponte Orchestra at the Hong Kong City Hall. Wang is also active in performing at various venues, having been invited to Tai Kwun, Hong Kong Palace Museum, Freespace, TeaHouse Theatre of Xiqu, S’way Recital Hall, Musica Del Cuore, and others.
Wang has appeared as a guest concertmaster with Macao Orchestra, Greater Bay Philharmonic Orchestra, In-heritage Philharmonic, Saigon Philharmonic Orchestra, Shenyang Symphony Orchestra, Central Conservatory Of Music Orchestra, Shaanxi Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Summer Music Festival. In the summer of 2022, Wang was invited to be the soloist and concertmaster of the Young Musicians European Orchestra in Italy.
In addition to performing, Wang is passionate about music education and charity work. He has given masterclasses at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and teaches as an adjunct faculty member at Music Department of Hong Kong Baptist University. He is currently the speaker for the 2024 ABRSM violin syllabus seminar hosted by ABRSM and Tom Lee Music. He is also the conductor of the St. Paul’s Co-educational College string orchestra and has been invited to be the member of Circle of Friends of First Initiative Foundation.
Wang has been interviewed by TV programs, including Music Talks of RTHK, Close To Culture by i-Cable News. He has also been featured in articles by the South China Morning Post, Wen Wei Po, Ming Pao, China News Service, SkyPost, East Week, U Lifestyle.
During his school years, Wang won the violin competition twice in Shenyang Conservatory of Music, he was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Central Conservatory of Music under renowned Professor Lin Yaoji.
In 2021, Wang completed the recording of all 24 Caprices by N. Paganini on his website. Wang Liang plays a 1788 Joseph Gagliano violin, donated by The Ladies Committee of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Society.
王亮現任香港管弦樂團第二副首席,生於瀋陽音樂世家。
作為香港最炙手可熱的小提琴家,王氏曾多次在大型音樂會中擔任獨奏。於2021年受邀於法國文化協會,在「法國五月藝術節」香港管弦樂團《紅色小提琴》電影音樂會擔任獨奏。同年10月受香港蕭邦社——美樂聚2021音樂節之邀,演繹聖-桑《第三小提琴協奏曲》、《詩人與慕斯》。2023年與Ponte Orchestra於中環大會堂演奏《梁山伯與祝英台小提琴協奏曲》。王氏更活躍於多元化之表演場地,多次受邀於香港大館、香港故宮、自由空間、戲曲中心茶館、S’way Recital Hall、Musica Del Cuore等演奏音樂會。
王氏曾為多個樂團擔任客席首席,合作的樂團有澳門樂團、大灣區管弦樂團、越南西貢愛樂樂團、瀋陽交響樂團、中央音樂學院青年交響樂團、陝西交響樂團、上海夏季音樂節。2022年夏,更以首席與獨奏家的身份參加於意大利舉辦的歐洲青年交響音樂節。
除演奏外,王氏也熱衷於音樂教育與慈善事業,多次於香港演藝學院教授大師課。現任教於香港浸會大學,教授獨奏與樂隊演奏課程及任聖保羅男女中學弦樂團指揮。同时獲香港各大比赛邀請擔任評委。現為通利琴行與ABRSM(英皇)聯合主辦之2024小提琴講座主講人,及領賢慈善基金友人。

Gian Paolo Peloso is regarded as one of the most accomplished Italian violinists. He has studied with some of the finest pedagogues of the 20th century, including the legendary Ruggiero Ricci, Viktor Tretyakov, Ivry Gitlis, Igor Ozim, Viktor Pikaisen, and Pierre Amoyal. The venerated Ivry Gitlis defines Peloso “a violinist and friend, whom I respect and love in both ways: a true musician, of the highest quality as a soloist and chamber music performer, and a top class violin teacher, whose practice honors our profession and its future.”
Peloso made his debut at the age of ten under the direction of composer Luciano Berio. He has performed internationally in Europe, Asia and the US as a soloist with orchestras, in recitals, and in chamber music concerts; throughout his career, he has been invited to participate in the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, the Martha Argerich Festival in Switzerland, and has made appearances at the Societa dei Concerti Foundation of Milan, the Moscow International House of Music, the Singapore Sun Festival, the Archipel Festival in Geneva, the Hong Kong Musicus Fest, the Cannes Festival in France, and the Weill Recital Hall in New York.
He has toured extensively with the Camerata de Lausanne and performed chamber music with Sofia Gubaidulina, Mark Lubotsky, Vladimir Mendelssohn, and Bruno Canino. Appointed Violin Professor at the Conservatory of Music of Neuchatel in Switzerland, he has recorded sonatas by Saint-Saens and Poulenc for the National Swiss Radio.
Peloso is a Sony Classical artist, and has recorded in New York Sonatas by Respighi Busoni, and Faure (complete Sonatas) with pianist Bruno Canino. Peloso is presently Senior Violin Lecturer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, and plays a Matteo Goffriller violin of 1710.
Russian born, Artem Konstantinov, is one of the most prominent musicians in Asia. He's a virtuoso Cellist, Conductor and a talented Composer.
Artem carries the great traditions of the Russian Cello School and among the great teachers who have transferred their knowledge and skills to him are: Mstislav Rostropovich, Natalya Shakhovskaya, Stefan Popov and Alexander Rudin. He studied at the Moscow State Conservatory and later received a Doctoral Degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
For thirteen years, (prior to the 2020 Covid Pandemic), Artem was the Principal Cellist of The City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and also Guest Principal Cello of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. He has also held the position of Professor at The Baptist University of Hong Kong and at The Harrow International School, with previous roles as Principal Cellist with The Shenzhen Philharmonic Orchestra and Professor at The Shenzhen School of Art.
As a true innovator and pioneer within the Arts, Artem lays unique claim to giving the Asian Premieres of both of Dmitry Shostakovich's Cello Concertos in China. This is a truly unique achievement which is matched by him also commissioning and giving the World Premieres of a number of brand new works for the Cello by Richard Harvey (UK), Thérèse Brenet (France), Joe Lee (Taiwan), Dani Howard (UK) and Lydia Ayres (USA).

As a Conductor, Artem has been one of the Chief Conductors of The China Hong Kong Symphony Orchestra since 2013, and a Guest Conductor of The City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, while his compositional work has also gained notoriety with his original soundtrack to the documentary movie "Get Away" which won the Grand Prix at the "Doker International Film Festival" in 2021.
San Yuen-yum is internationally regarded as an outstanding educator of young musicians. She has successfully set up string programmes in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia.
Appointed Principal Music Educator at the University of Tasmania in 2010, Yuen Yum developed a vibrant junior string programme. She is a guest violinist with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, member of Diemen Quartet and faculty member of the Tutti World Youth Music Festival, Beijing.
In Sydney, Yuen Yum created the Strings Alive Academy, an innovative programme for young string players that continues to develop and expand. In addition, she was string coordinator and conductor at Greenwich Primary School. Yuen Yum was a member of the London Orchestra of St John’s Smith Square. She graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London in 1986.
Yuen Yum returned to Hong Kong in 2015 and is currently Head of Strings for the Yew Chung Education Foundation. She oversees all string programmes for their schools, in cities including Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing and Silicon Valley US.
Hong Kong-born Yiu Song-lam is a distinguished oboist who has worked in the music industry as performer, educator and entrepreneur. He is the Head of Winds, Brass and Percussion of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has been Visiting Professor of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music since 2016 and was elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM) by the Royal Academy of Music for his significant contributions to the music profession.
A graduate of the HKAPA , Yiu was awarded the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship to study at the Queensland Conservatorium in Australia, the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Rotterdam Conservatorium in Holland and at the Köln Musikhochschule in Germany, where he received the Diplom der Künstlerischen Abschlußprüfung with distinction.
Yiu is the founding Artistic Director of Hong Kong Wind Kamerata and the Vice-president of the Asian Double Reed Association. In addition, Yiu has been the Honorary Artist-in-Residence of the Education University of Hong Kong. He is highly regarded for his contributions in developing the double reed network regionally and internationally. In 2022, he was appointed as the At-large Director (Orchestra/Chamber – Oboe) of the Board of Directors of the International Double Reed Society (IDRS). He has worked extensively as soloist with renowned orchestras worldwide and has been invited to perform with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields under the baton of Sir Neville Marriner and with the London Virtuosi on their Spain tour. He is frequently invited to perform at prestigious music festivals around the world.
His students have won major prizes in many international competitions and have been appointed major positions at renowned orchestras across Europe and Asia.
Yiu has given masterclasses regularly in Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Beijing Central Conservatory of Music , Xi’an and Xinghai Conservatory, National Chiayi University in Taiwan, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, Chung Ang University in Korea, École Normale de Musique de Paris, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon in France, Leipzig and Stuttgart Musikhochschule in Germany. He has also served as an adjudicator for the Muri International Oboe Competition in Switzerland, the IDRS Fernard Gillet-Hugo Fox International Oboe Competition, IDRS International Young Artist Oboe Competition, the Concours International Musique de Chambre in Lyon, France, and the prestigious Geneva Competition 2021.

1989年畢業於香港演藝學院,同年贏得香港賽馬會音樂及舞蹈信託基金頒獎學金先後前往昆土蘭音樂學院、英國皇家音樂學院、荷蘭鹿特丹音樂學院及德國科隆國立音樂學院深造。
從歐洲回港後,姚氏創立了香港管樂雅集。同時,姚氏為香港教育大學擔任榮譽駐校藝術家。作為亞洲雙簧協會的創會董事局成員及副主席,姚氏更積極參與,推動及建設雙簧樂器界在亞洲地區內和國際上的發展,更於2022年被委任為國際雙簧協會年會(IDRS) 董事會雙簧管常務主席。其門生多次在各著名的國際比賽上獲獎以及在歐洲和亞洲的著名樂團擔任要職。

Principal Flute of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since 2002, Australian-born Megan Sterling has enjoyed working with some of the world’s top conductors and soloists. She has appeared several times as a soloist with the orchestra, as well as in recitals, radio broadcasts, Canto-pop recordings and chamber music concerts in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Australia, Europe and the US. She has appeared live on national television and radio on three continents and performed at the Parliament House for the Australian Prime Minister.
Sterling has played Guest Principal Flute with all the leading orchestras in Australia and New Zealand. She is also a founding member of the Australian World Orchestra, which brings Australian musicians from elite orchestras around the world to play together under conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Simon Rattle.
Sterling was awarded First Prize and Special Concerto Prize at the 2003 International Flute Competition in Budapest. In her home country, she was the winner of the First Prize and Audience Prize at the Australian National Flute Competition; Symphony Australia Performer’s Award; 1st Prizes at the concerto competitions of both the Melbourne University and the Canberra School of Music; and the prestigious Queen’s Trust Award.
Sterling completed most of her music studies in Australia with Vernon Hill, David Bloom and Prudence Davis. Further studies abroad include Paul Edmund-Davies and Michael Cox in the UK, and Hans Krug in Germany.
In addition to her full-time role with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Sterling is also a sought-after teacher, and teaches at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the HK Baptist University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Antonio Iosco is an Italian clarinetist and conductor based in Hong Kong where he is a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Before moving to Asia in 2015, he studied the clarinet at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence from where he graduated with Distinction.
He then became a member at Madrid Opera House Teatro Real in Spain for three years and London Symphony Orchestra for seven years, respectively.
As a clarinetist, Lorenzo also worked extensively with Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony Orchestra, London Sinfonietta, St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra dell'Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, Opera di Roma, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice in Venice, under the baton of renowned conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Bernard Haitink, Sir Colin Davis, Sir Simon Rattle, Andris Nelsons, Esa-Pekka Salonen, André Previn, Yuri Temirkanov, Semyon Bychkov, Lorin Maazel, Jaap Van Zweden and Myung-Whun Chung.
As soloist he performed all major clarinet repertoire in Europe and Asia. Chamber music highlights include his London Wigmore Hall debut in collaboration with the London Conchord Ensemble in 2013, and performing as well as recording Mozart’s Gran Partita with the LSO woodwind ensemble in Switzerland, Italy and at LSO St. Lukes in London.
Lorenzo studied orchestral conducting with Piero Bellugi in Florence and Donato Renzetti in Rome. Recently he was invited to join the Gstaad Conducting Academy where he had the privilege of working closely with Jaap van Zweden and Johannes Schlaefli, who selected him to conduct in the Academy’s final concert.
Lorenzo is founder and artistic director of Ensemble Ubertini, a chamber orchestra based in Tuscany with international guest musicians. His main interest with the Ensemble is to rediscover some of the most important repertoire of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
In 2021 Lorenzo made his conducting debut with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in a program featuring the Italian composer Nino Rota. For the Italian National Day on 2 June, the General Consul of Italy in Hong Kong invited Lorenzo to conduct a concert at Hong Kong City Hall celebrating music of the best Italian composers of all time.
Future engagements will see Lorenzo conducting Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in April 2022, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Kunming Nie Er Symphony Orchestra in 2023.

Choy Kwok Tin started the clarinet at the age of 12, under the guidance of Norman Foster. He later entered the Hong Kong Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Daniel Silver. In 1985 he furthered his pursuit of music at the Royal College of Music under John McCaw, Principal Clarinet of the London Philharmonia Orchestra.
Choy is now teaching Clarinet and Saxophone at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Baptist University and the Hong Kong Music Institute. He is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Band Directors Association, and founding member of the Hong Kong Sinfonietta in which he was the Principal Clarinet from 1990 to 2006. From 2007 to now, he is the music director and conductor of Parsons Wind Orchestra, founding member of "Les Six" and overseas consultant of Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra. He regularly held master classes in Macau and Guangzhou Conservatory and is adjudicator for the Macau Youth Music Competition. He is very active as a chamber musician and soloist in Hong Kong, Macau, Japan, France, Poland and Lithuania.

One of the most outstanding singers from Asia, Nancy Yuen made her debut upon graduation from the Royal Academy of Music, London, with the Welsh National Opera, singing the title role of Madama Butterfly to great critical acclaim. She has since reprised the role all over the world, notably with the English National Opera, Scottish Opera, West Australian Opera, Opera Queensland, Opera Northern Ireland, Singapore Lyric Opera (SLO), Bangkok Opera (BO), the New Zealand International Festival of Arts, the Barbados Opera Festival, at the Royal Albert Hall for Raymond Gubbay Limited in 1998, 2000 and 2003.
Other starring operatic roles include Romilda (Xerxes), Violetta (La Traviata), Aida, Gilda (Rigoletto), Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Tosca, Liza (The Queen of Spades), Mimi (La Bohème), Jenny (Mahagony Songspiel), Micaela (Carmen), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Liu (Turandot), Antonia (Les Contes D’Hoffmann), Thaiis and Countessa (Le Nozze di Figaro).
A celebrated recitalist and versatile concert artist, she performs regularly with major orchestras and choral societies. Her appearances have included performances with Christopher Hogwood, Trevor Pinnock, Richard Armstrong, Carlo Rizzi, Helmuth Rilling, Tsung Yeh and orchestras such as the London Mozart Players, BBC Concert Orchestra, Singapore Symphony Orchestra, Tivoli Symphony Orchestra, the Shanghai Opera Orchestra and the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
Nancy regularly gives vocal masterclasses in Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore and many parts of China. She is a frequent guest as adjudicator for international competitions and music festivals, e.g. the 59th and 65th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival, Competizione dell’Opera organized by Opera Bremen, Germany, Macau Music Festivals in 2012, 2014 & 2016 and SLO ASEAN Vocal Competitions in Singapore in 2016 & 2018. As a director of operas, she has staged full productions of Così fan tutte, The Merry Widow, Prima la Musica and excerpts from many different operas.
Since 2015 she has been the Honorary Artistic Director of Singapore Lyric Opera. On stage in 2016 she reprised her signature role as “Madama Butterfly” with Opera Hong Kong and made her role debut as Senta in Wagner’s “Der Fliegende Holländer” presented by the Wagner Society in Singapore. In 2017 she sang the role of Mimì in “La Bohème” with Bangkok Opera. In 2018 Nancy sings the title role of Aida with SLO, once again reprises her role as Cio-cio-san with Opera Siam and performs the role of Liu in “Turandot”, presented by Musicians Society of Singapore.
Nancy has been the Head of Vocal Studies at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts since March 2010. For her significant achievements and distinguished contributions to music, she has been elected Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2014, awarded “Friend of the Arts” by the Singapore National Arts Council and appointed as Professor by the HKAPA both in 2018.

Asia’s leading operatic bass and vocal coach for the past 25 years, has performed over 60 major roles on stage in Europe, America, and Asia. He has also appeared on Canadian French, Norwegian and Chinese and American television programs, including CNN, both as a soloist and as an expert on vocal performance issues.
During his career he was the first prize winner of 5 vocal competitions, including The Metropolitan Opera Regional Auditions, The Carmel Grand Prize, and Finalist in Concurso Internacional de Canto in Rio de Janeiro. He has performed with a number of performers from film, television, and the world’s major opera houses, such as Maria Ewing, Giacomo Aragall, Helga Dernesch, Dame Josephine Barstow, Victor Borge, Doc Severinsen, and John Raitt. A distinguished graduate from the Hochschule fur Musik in Vienna, he also holds a Doctorate Degree from The Peabody Institute.
Since 2000 Dr. Anthony is the Director of The Music & Drama Institute. Previously senior lecturer of The HK Academy for Performing Arts, Vocal Instructor at The Peabody Institute, Director of Vocal Studies & Professor of Music at Wayne State University, Stage Director at Michigan Opera Theatre and in Santa Barbara, and as Soloist at Theater Oberhausen, Germany. In addition to his performance career, he has taught around 1000 individuals from over 40 countries around the world.
Jimmy In a cover article in 2009, the international opera magazine Orpheus described Jimmy Chiang under the title, “Versatility comes through Hard Work, Discipline and Respect!” Chiang is a well-rounded musician who masters a great variety of musical skills. As a solo pianist, he delves deeply into the music and loves each note as if it were his own (Schorndorfer Nachrichten). As an orchestra and opera conductor, he “animate[s] the orchestra… and carrie[s] the singers as well as the choir in his hands” (Orpheus, 2011). He was the first prize winner of the 2007 “Lovro von Matacic” international conducting competition in Zagreb. In 2013, Chiang was appointed as Kapellmeister of the Vienna Boys’ Choir, becoming the first Hong Kong born Chinese conductor to ever hold this title in the choir’s 500 years of history.
Chiang was born to a family of musicians; his father was a flautist and his mother a mezzo-soprano and choir director. Chiang discovered his own passion for music early in life, beginning piano lessons when he was four. As a teenager, he studied violoncello and composition. At the age of 13, he made his first public appearance as a concert pianist with the Hong Kong Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra, in which he was also a cellist from 1994 to 1996 and has been its principal conductor since 2008. He went on to receive his Fellows Diploma in piano performance from the Trinity College of Music London at 16. He graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree from Baylor University in the USA, where he studied with the renowned pianist Krassimira Jordan of the Russian piano school and the legendary Polish-born Jewish conductor, Daniel Sternberg. He continued his education and obtained a Magister Artium degree with distinction at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna; there, he was a student of German pianist Wolfgang Watzinger and the last student of Leopold Hager, the legendary Austrian conductor who has been recognized for his expertise and authority in his interpretation of Mozart’s music. In 2003, Chiang studied with Seiji Ozawa and appeared at the Rohm Music Festival in Kyoto, Japan upon the maestro’s invitation.
Chiang’s performing career as a soloist, collaborative pianist, and conductor has brought him to prestigious stages and festivals across the world. He has performed at the Wiener Musikverein, Carnegie Hall, Komischen Oper Berlin, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, FACYL in Spain, and the Macao International Music Festival, among others. In 2016, he became the first artistic director of a newly founded Hong Kong-Vienna Music Festival. Chiang brought the festival to its climax by leading the top musicians from both metropoles in a stunning performance of Gustav Mahler’s 8th Symphony.
Chiang’s foremost passion is opera. From 2007 to 2009, he worked as assistant music director of the Wagner “Ring” cycle at Theater Lübeck; during the summer seasons, he was assistant music director of opera productions at the Eutin Festival. From 2009 to 2011, he was the principal conductor at Theater Freiburg. There, he directed numerous premiere productions, including a howling success of Ligeti’s opera Le Grand Macabre with stage director Calixto Bieito. In 2021, Chiang became the principal guest conductor for the Taranto Opera Festival and has directed several successful opera productions.
Orchestras that Chiang has worked with include the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Vienna, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Zagreb Philharmonic, the Orquesta Sinfonica Castilla e Leon, the Hong Kong Philharmonic, and more.
Chiang appeared with the Vienna Boys Choir in two CD albums under the Deutsche Grammophon label.
Biography
Dr. Denson Paul Pollard is Professor of Music in trombone at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and bass/tenor trombonist/bass trumpet player with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Pollard was the bass trombonist of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra for 2014-2015 and the Hong Kong Philharmonic from 2001-2007. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic. His teachers have included Jim Roberts, David Gier, George Krem, Charles Vernon, and Joseph Alessi.
Pollard earned the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree and the Master of Musical Arts degree from the University of Iowa, and the Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Jacksonville State University. He is a passionate champion of the bass trombone as a solo instrument and has performed as a soloist world wide. He has recorded three solo CDs: Up From Below, Point in Time, and Listening. Pollard is a Buffet Crampon artist and performs exclusively on Courtois trombones and Ultimate Brass mouthpieces
Denson Paul Pollard is simultaneously a Professor of Trombone at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University and a member of the low brass section of the MET Orchestra. Chris was appointed to the trumpet section of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra by Edo de Waart in 2005, following his studies at the Royal College of Music, Manhattan School of Music and Royal Academy of Music.
His trumpet professors included Malcolm Smith, Andrew Crowley, Robert Sullivan, Paul Beniston, Paul Archibald, Howard Snell and James Watson.
Born into a musical family, Chris began cornet lessons with his father at the Worthing Salvation Army brass band and progressed to become a member of the International Staff Band. His first experience of orchestral playing came through the Brighton Youth Orchestra with whom he toured Hong Kong in 2000.
He has performed as guest principal trumpet with several other orchestras including the Hallé Orchestra, Macau Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, Singapore Symphony, and Ulster Orchestra.
As a teacher he serves on the faculties of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University and Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has also given masterclasses at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory in Singapore, and the Silpakorn University and the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music in Thailand.
In 2013 Chris was elected as an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music (ARAM), an award given to "former students who have made a significant contribution to the music profession."
